Fire Team Outreach to Georgia 2010

E-mail

Alex, our interpreter, viewed Georgia as a series of challenges after the breakup of the USSR. The questions that the Georgians asked themselves were, “Who is in charge and will it affect us?”

The first region who resisted the change was South Ossetia in 1991. The second was Abkhzia in 1992-93. The third conflict was over a corrupt President, Mr. Shavardnadze. The fourth occurred on August 8, 2008, when Russia invaded Georgia. Russia was trying to punish Georgia for daring to integrate with the West. We have witnessed the awakening of the "Russian Bear." This was yet one more sign of the "urgent times" we are living in. All four mini wars resulted in loss of life. Could this be the time that Georgians would be ready to turn to God?
The Lord had called us to Georgia to minister to businessmen, university students, community leaders, social organizations and others in the capitol city of Tbilisi.

We traveled to Georgia on March 2 - March 18, 2010. This was a very timely opportunity to reach out to this devastated nation. In fact, this could have been our last chance to reach the Georgian people with the Gospel.
If you have never been to Tbilisi, you will be amazed by the beauty of this “hidden European jewel." It is crossed by a beautiful river Mtkvari, complete with an ancient fortress, surrounded by stately mountains, abundant vineyards, and famous for its fresh, delicious food. The city has become a favorite destination of many European travelers, but the Georgians needed to hear the message of hope. We also ministered in the neighboring nation of Armenia.

Our outreach to the Republic of Georgia and Armenia was outstanding. The people were warm and open to the Gospel. We were able to build long lasting relationships. John Schmook deserved a star. At 81 years of age and a broken knee cap he was tireless in sharing his testimony, praying, prophesying and teaching. Here are a few pictures:
