Psalm 40:1 - 3 (NKJV)
I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth - praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the LORD.
No matter how tragic the choices a person has made, no matter how dire the circumstances of life have become, God never gives up on us, His love for us never fails (Romans 8:38 & 39), He still has a plan for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11) and He still calls us to a higher purpose ( Philippians 3:14), our task is to look to Him and to trust in Him.
Luke 15:20 (NKJV)
"And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him."
For many years I missed this critical verse, the father did not start searching for the son the day he came back, he had been searching for the son ever since he left. Our heavenly Father is the same way, no matter how far away we drift, tossed about by the seas of life, God is always searching for us, eager for our return, desiring nothing more than to pour out His love upon us.
Jude 24 (NKJV)
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.
The objective is the same for each of us, to complete our earthly journey, to spend eternity in the presence of God, and Jesus walks with us every step of the way, our successful completion is His greatest joy (Matthew 28:20).
Abba Father we are so thankful for Your love, that nothing can keep You from loving us, nothing of this world can keep us from Your compassionate embrace, Your strong right arm, Your grace; it is in the name of our Lord and our Savior Christ Jesus that we pray. Amen.
